User Guide ● Using ConnectUC

Everything you need to know to use ConnectUC.

Your New Call Enterprises phone service runs on ConnectUC, a single app for calling, voicemail, texting, fax, and video meetings on desktop, web, or mobile. Jump to any topic below.

Getting Started

What is ConnectUC and how do I get it?

ConnectUC is the app that powers your calls, voicemail, texting, fax, and meetings. You can use it in a browser at app.connectuc.io with no installation required, or download the mobile app by searching "ConnectUC" in the App Store or Google Play.

What do I log in with?

Your UCaaS username is usually your extension and domain together, such as 101@yourcompany.service. This is different from your Customer Portal login. If you're not sure what yours is, call us and we'll get you set up.

ConnectUC may ask for permission to use your microphone, camera, or notifications, is that safe?

Yes, and we recommend allowing them. ConnectUC needs microphone and audio access to handle calls, and camera access for video meetings. Without those permissions, calling and video will not work properly.

Calling

How do I make a call?

Three ways: the "+New" button, the "New Call" button, or the dial pad that's always available at the bottom of the screen. Dial a number or extension directly, or search your contacts.

Can I transfer a call, put someone on hold, or loop in another person?

Yes, the active call screen gives you Mute, Hold, Transfer (blind or attended), Add Call to conference someone in, Park, and on-demand Record if your line has recording enabled.

I'm getting a call I can't take right now, can I text back instead of answering?

Yes, use Quick Reply from the incoming call screen. Pick a pre-written response or type your own, and it's sent as a chat (to coworkers) or a text message (to outside numbers), all without answering the call.

Voicemail

How do I check my voicemail?

Open the Voicemail tab to see every message, newest first, with playback, a written transcript (if enabled on your line), and one-click call back, forward, or delete.

I deleted a voicemail by mistake, can I get it back?

Yes, within 24 hours. Deleted voicemails sit in "Recently Deleted" before they're permanently removed, so there's a window to recover one.

Texting & Fax

Can more than one person on my team text from the same business number?

Yes, a number can be shared across your team with no limit on how many people you add. Everyone added sees new messages going forward, not the history from before they joined, and replies are tagged with each person's name so it's clear who is responding.

Is there a limit on group text conversations?

Group texts support up to 9 people total, including whoever starts the conversation.

How do I stop getting texts from a specific number?

Reply BLOCK to that conversation to opt out, and it only applies to that one number. Reply UNBLOCK any time to resume, or text MSGBL to see your current blocked list.

Can I send and receive faxes through ConnectUC?

Yes, from the Fax tab you can attach your document (up to 10 MB), add an optional cover page, and send. To receive faxes, you'll need a fax-enabled number on your account; call us if you're not sure yours is set up for it.

Contacts & Speed Dial

What are the different types of contacts I'll see?

Company Contacts come automatically from your phone system. Shared Contacts are added by your office manager and visible to your whole team. My Contacts are the personal ones you add yourself. Click any contact to call, chat, or start a meeting with them, and use the star icon to mark favorites so they appear at the top of your list.

How do I add a new contact?

Click the "+" button above your contacts list, enter their name, company, title, phone, email, or address, and save. New contacts you add go into your "My Contacts" list.

How do I set up a Speed Dial button?

From the Calls tab, click the gear icon next to the Speed Dials bar and choose "+ Add Speed Dial." Pick what it should do β€” dial a number, call a contact, or open a link β€” give it a name and icon, and save. It will appear in your Speed Dials bar for instant one-touch access.

Video Meetings

How do I start a video meeting?

Open the Meetings tab and click "New Meeting." Name it, choose your settings (waiting room, shared with your team, etc.), and click "Join Meeting" to start. You also have a Personal Meeting ID by default that works like your own always-available meeting room.

How do I join someone else's meeting?

Search by meeting name or enter the Meeting ID directly in the Meetings tab, then click "Join Meeting." You can choose your camera and microphone settings before you go in, or select "Join without audio" if you'd rather not use your mic.

How do I invite others to a meeting?

Copy the Meeting ID, PIN, or Meeting URL to share with anyone you want to invite, or turn on "Shared Meeting" so it's automatically visible to everyone in your company.

Mobile App

Does the mobile app do everything the desktop version does?

Just about everything is built into the mobile app, including calling, voicemail, texting, chat, fax, and meetings, plus mobile-only extras like a preferred callback number and settings for how the app switches between Wi-Fi and cellular data during a call.
